Is Resume Customizer really free? +
Yes. The app is free to download and use. The only cost is your own Anthropic API usage, which Anthropic bills to you directly based on the Claude requests you make.
Do I need an API key? +
Yes — you bring your own Anthropic API key. You can create one in the Anthropic Console. The key is stored securely in your operating system's secure storage and never leaves your machine except to call Claude.
Is my data private? +
Your resumes, templates, and saved applications are stored locally in a folder on your computer. Job descriptions and resume content are only sent to Anthropic when you use Claude features (generate, fit score, refine, chat, interview notes). ATS parse checks run entirely on your machine and never upload your PDF. See the privacy page for details.
What does the ATS parse check do? +
When you import a resume PDF for a role, and again after every application export (or anytime from the ATS tab), the app extracts text with local parsers — the same class of failure modes that trip up Workday-, Greenhouse-, and Lever-style systems. You get a parseability score, the fields recovered (name, email, sections, skills), what's missing, and per-platform estimates. Application checks also include keyword coverage vs the job description. It is not a live connection to those vendors; it is a privacy-first simulation you can re-run offline.
Can I work on multiple applications at once? +
Yes. By default everything stays in one window. Open Settings → Windows and enable Open applications in separate windows to open New Application and each application in its own window for multitasking. Dashboard, Search, Roles, and Settings stay in the main window. Details in the docs →
What can I configure (models, prompts, formats)? +
Almost every Claude feature has its own model and system prompt in Settings, plus a resume input format (structured text, HTML, or PDF) for generation, scoring, chat, and refine. Role prompts live on Roles; generation instructions are per application. See the Settings map and AI prompts reference. Settings → API & updates also has a local usage report and configured-models review.
Which platforms are supported? +
macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows 10/11 (64-bit). On macOS you get a .dmg; on Windows you can choose a standard installer or a portable executable.
Does it work offline? +
You can browse applications, edit content, export PDFs, and run ATS parse checks offline. Generating content and Claude fit scores require an internet connection to reach Anthropic.
